Reboot Schedule

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005 - 11:00PM EDT / 03:00 GMT

Reboot Details

This reboot should eliminate the kernel panics/crashes on this host by way of a kernel upgrade. If we continue to have problems with this server, a new server has been reserved that we can migrate the Linodes accounts to.

All Linodes will be shutdown properly, the host will be rebooted, and then your Linode will be automatically rebooted using the last used config profile. You do not need to issue reboots. Actual down-time for each Linode should be between 15-20 minutes.

You may also follow along in our IRC chat room:
http://www.linode.com/irc/

If you're affected by this, you'll be receiving an email from me shortly.

I'll post here when the reboot has been completed.

-Chris

No, I think what happened was that the new kernel wasn't that stable and it crashed twice. The third reboot was rolling back to the old kernel and more steps will follow as soon as they wake up. They had pretty late night with setting up host49 and working on this.

If you haven't noticed by now, we've set up migrations from host45 to host49. I'll be sending out formal notices via email with instructions on how to migrate, but I think most of you have done this before (log in to the website, shutdown, press the migrate button, boot back up).

Host45, regardless of kernel version, hasn't proved itself reliable. Thus, the reason for the move.

Thanks,
-Chris
