Hi,

I'm running redhat 9 on my linode with the default mysql v3 and PHP4

I need to run mediawiki on the server therefore need

apache2
php5
mysql v4 or 5

last time i upgraded a vds RH9, I took the rather protracted route of compiling all apps from source. took ages and was a lot of messing around trying to get the right dev libs etc.

is there as easy way of doing this with apt?
I've done the usual upgrade things for both os and apps but still have v3 mysql and php4.

any advice appreciated.

regards,
Ross

Since RH9 is so old, the default packages are that old in the package (apt) repository so there isn't any way to do it easily. You could compile everything from source, but since RH9 is that old and not even supported for security anymore I would recommend just switching to a newer distro.
