http://www.linode.com/products/linodes.cfm reads:
Quote: Distribution Minimum Size (MB)
Arch Linux (in testing) 505
CentOS 4.0 (RHEL) 800
Centos 5.0 594
Debian 3.1 (Small) 95
Debian 4.0 168
Fedora Core 6 875
Gentoo 2006.1 1600
Gentoo 2007.0 1800
Mandrake 9.1 (Small) 775
Slackware 10 (small) 230
Slackware 12.0 225
Ubuntu 6.06 250
Ubuntu 7.04 252
z) ActiveGrid - Debian 4 [testing] 775
The distributions labeled "Small" contain the usual assortment of development tools and internet services.
The distros labeled "Large" contain pretty much a full-install - development tools, internet/database servers, and GUI/X windows pre-installed.
there are several distros labeled "small", but no distros labeled "large". I'm shopping around for web hosting right now, and a "large" distro would possibly interest me (for the GUI/X windows possibilities; i'm interested getting some VNC server remote desktop action going on!) |

Hello,
Thanks for the report. I'll get that updated...
I've debated reintroducing a distro that has a full GUI pre-installed, but for the time being you can start off with one of the barebones installations and then install what you need from there.
Regards,

| Just to expand on what caker wrote: the whole "large vs. small" thing is only the initial image. Once you've booted (say) Debian, you can install anything available from the full distribution. Of course, you might have to expand the size of the disk image, but that's easy. The distribution images are just a starting point. |
