So, Fedora Core 6 is EOL as of 12/7. Are there plans to move forward and support FC7?
More to the point, I would have upgraded my Linode myself a long time ago if I were sure it was safe. I'm concerned that since Linode controls the boot kernel, no matter what the distro installs, if I upgraded to 7 the kernel might not be compatible or something. Can anyone reassure me?
Thanks. |

| You should be fine upgrading on your own. Linode OS maintenance/additions and linode kernel maintenance/additions are really two separate processes. The set of kernels that Chris makes available are the same across all the distros - it's not like he'd release a FC-specific kernel along with the FC7 release. So as long as you're on a fairly recent kernel, you should have no problems. |

| If you don't need the latest greatest whizziest stuff, then I'd recommend CentOS 5. This is based on RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 which, itself, was based off FC6. |
