Thanks for the updates, it's much appreciated.
I'm curious about something. The Atlanta site is hosted at GNAX, I believe. Their website (www.gnax.net) advertises "99.999% Reliability." What exactly does that mean?
A quick back of the envelope calculation: 0.001% of "downtime" is roughly 5 and a quarter minutes a year. How do they define "reliability" in their SLA? Just wondering.
Thanks. |

This morning EST, all was fine. At 3:30ish, gnax went down for a few minutes. Now, packet loss and slow http traffic has returned.
I wish they can sort out the issue already...
(Yes, I am aware this only affects certain people. My T1 line connects fine to gnax but ALL my verizon customers and other ISPs have issues connecting to gnax. Peering issue?) |

FWIW, here's my recent ping times and traceroute to my host77 Linode via Amsterdam.
[Whoops, ORIGINAL POST DELETED -- had background download going that screwed the figures. In fact, ping looks normal from here (consistently round ~132ms), but just got notification from US-based monitoring site that my linode was unreachable at 12:31:15 -0800.]

I'm still having trouble at least from some routes.
It's been working fine from my office all day. That route ends with:
6: cr2.sl9mo.ip.att.net (12.122.18.117)
7: cr2.cgcil.ip.att.net (12.122.2.21)
8: tbr1.cgcil.ip.att.net (12.122.17.158)
9: 12.122.86.193 (12.122.86.193)
10: 192.205.34.198 (192.205.34.198)
11: dls-bb1-link.telia.net (213.248.80.149)
12: atl-bb1-link.telia.net (213.248.80.145)
13: globalnet-103907-atl-bb1.c.telia.net (213.248.90.54)
14: l3-atl-18.gnax.net (209.51.131.74)
But from me home I'm still getting packet loss; a recent 60-second sample said 10% ICMP loss, but it's been up and down all day. The route from my home connection is:
6 CHCGILWUH53JC01-GE0-0-0-0.mcleodusa.net (64.198.101.137)
7 CHCGILDTHBUJC01-SO0-3-0-0.mcleodusa.net (64.198.100.46)
8 ge3-0.cr01.chc01.pccwbtn.net (206.223.119.48)
9 gnax.ge2-13.br01.atl01.pccwbtn.net (63.216.31.130)
10 63.247.77.6 (63.247.77.6)
Currently the route from my home is somewhat usable, but still slow. And at least a couple of times today it's been totally useless. This is coming on 24 hours now, and I'm getting annoyed.
I've also noticed similar problems getting from my linode out to various (presumably well-connected) sites, such as security.ubuntu.com. That route start with:
1: 63.247.71.193 (63.247.71.193)
2: atl-core-a-gi3-6.gnax.net (209.51.131.73)
3: atl-core-g-g1-6.gnax.net (63.247.69.178)
4: 216.89.82.81 (216.89.82.81)
5: 204.70.200.45 (204.70.200.45)
6: dcr2-so-0-3-0.atlanta.savvis.net (204.70.193.237)
7: no reply
8: 204.70.197.5 (204.70.197.5)
9: 208.174.224.134 (208.174.224.134)
10: vlan79.csw2.NewYork1.Level3.net (4.68.16.126) |

Have been getting alerts from Nagios all day complaining about intermittent service issues; it seems quite intermittent but still happening as of the last 60 minutes.
Ran pings from 2200-2300 UTC from several other sites with reliable connections, including two in London, and two in Chicago, and have been showing from 2% to 4% packet loss at different sites.
Will be watching for some sort of update from Atlanta on this...thanks for looking into things. |

| Yeah, I'm still seeing intermittent connectivity problems with my atlanta linodes. It'll be up and fine for a few minutes, then problems, then fine again ... |

It's been 18 hours.
Now thinking back, the problems appeared about 3 days ago.
I am confirming that some routes are okay, and some routes simply dont work. It's about 50/50 for my clients. And there are moments of 100% packet loss. |

It looks like the same router that was the problem yesterday.

I seem to be having problems with atlanta22 as well...
Very slow response...
Packets: Sent = 498, Received = 463, Lost = 35 (7% Loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 99ms, Maximum = 111ms, Average = 100ms |

I still have the same problems as 10 hours ago with host83: lots of problems connecting, connections cannot handle big packets of data, etc...

| I'm curious if anyone else is having problems with http traffic. Despite the fact that I am only getting about 4-8% packet loss, my inbound http traffic doesn't flow at all through some routes. Other traffic is typical of 4-8% packet loss. |

Yes, very odd routing behavior, not to mention intermittent connectivity issues (i.e. having trouble administering my server with Webmin/Virtualmin):
Code:
Will@Legolas ~
