| I want to have a counter on my server but don't want to host it myself (so I can prove I'm not cheating). The counters I've found so far either cost money, are crippled or force me to show advertisements. Can you provide us with a counter? |

Like the webalizer at http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/
You get much more detailed statistics and analysis (use it through webmin if you need)
Nobody else needs to know your hit/counter status.. and most counters can be easily faked. |

Due to the fact that linode provides unmanaged servers, it would be next to impossible for them to provide web counters.
That said, I can offer another recommendation for webalizer - I've used it in the past and it does a decent job. I've recently switched to using AWStats, which, like webalizer, is a local access_log processor, but I think it gives some more detailed information.
I've also used Google Analytics on a few sites - it's a free web stats service. They don't force you to use any ads or anything ridiculous like that, and the stats they provide are quite detailed. All you need to do to implement Google Analytics is to add a small javascript snippet to the <head> of each page on your website. If you're using a CMS, this is quite easy, as you'll only have to edit the master header template file. |

| I would say without a doubt the best free counter out there is GoStats. Not only are the counter faces really great (you can also have a hidden tracker), but the stats to back it up are the best out there. :D |
