can't log on after reboot

hello,

after i reboot i can't seem to long back on via ssh. the only way i can log back on is if i delete all my disk images, and make a whole new configuration, and reinstall a distribution.

am i doing something wrong?

Perhaps it's because you've changed your config profile around and not updated /etc/fstab?

This may not be very good of a reply, but I think if the only way you can login is to re-create your distribution, then you are doing something wrong. Most linux systems allow you to login after a reboot.

So, to answer your question, yes, you are doing something wrong. But without knowing what you do, or change between the time you set up your distribution to the time you reboot, it will only be blindly guessing at what the possibilities are.

Can you logon using the special console mode to see what your system is doing? Perhaps its not even booting properly. SSH really doesn't provide much feedback for why it can't connect to a particular system.

Are you sure its not a firewall issue?

The first day I had my Linode I managed to lock myself out while playing with Lokkit. I'd just started so it was no big deal to blow it away and start again. Of course, if I had known, I could have got in using the console.
