The scheduled reboot exposed a problem that I wanted to debug by rebooting again, so I just typed shutdown -r.

When it didn't come back up after a few minutes, I checked the linode web interface and found it was turned off.

It's possible that I overlooked a warning somewhere saying that rebooting from the command line is unsupported. If so, ignore this message.

If rebooting from the command line is supported, maybe my upgrade to the Debian testing distribution had something to do with it.

Rebooting that way is not supported, this is due to certain operations that have to be carried out during the boot to do with UML.

The easiest thing to do is aliase reboot to ssh username@hostxx.linode.com reboot

The will either prompt you for your password or if you have set-up ssh keys it will just go straight through, this will issue a reboot as if you did it via the LPM.

Using the new 2.6.7 Linode kernel, rebooting that way DOES work :)
Check my other post on Linode Announcement page, kernel 2.6.7.

This was a mistake, which has now been corrected. To pick up the correction, reboot via the website.
