| Is there a way to create an image from my slicehost slice and put it on linode? Or do I need to completely re-create my environment if I move? |

| But remember that if you slurp from SliceHost here, you're going to end up with a 64bit userland, and probably need a 64 bit kernel, which may not be the optimum configuration for your needs. |

Interestingly, no. We're one of the couple of providers that offer the choice. _________________ Jed Smith

Hmm...
64-bit only -> increased memory usage even when not necessary -> people will need more RAM -> they will pay more? |

| Tnx for the good replies. I think i'll create an image from scratch as I don't need the overhead that x64 brings. |

Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they aren't out to shaft you. _________________ / Peter |

| I didn't say anyone was paranoid, just that I was going to buy futures in tin foil. |

| you know, it's not really 'tin' foil any more - it's aluminum -- and there are plenty of scholarly documents available online exposing and revealing the dastardly reasons behind the government's conspiracy to force this change upon us,... and I would post a few url's but i need to disconnect before they start logging my keystrokes. |

If you were on IRC, you'd know that I said "tin" because there is no way in hell that I'd be able to spell "aluminum".
Hell, caker convinced me to misspell "moron" for 3 weeks about a year ago.

I prefer IRC - but with IRC 'They' have even more opportunity to beam signals across a pervasive connection. Sometimes 'They' can even suck signals back the other way - and I can not, and will not allow 'Them' any opportunity to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.
Don't concern yourself with spelling. Aluninium, or aluminum - either way - just be sure to use double layers until you are able to upgrade to a more robust solution eg, copper, or even gold.
You can migrate your current hat configuration by cloning - but we'll have no talk of making smaller protection available for experimental purposes, or a silly exhaustive review of credit card transaction fees as precursor to implementing a miniscule policy change. There's Linoding to do - so let's get at it,...!
ps. Would someone be interested in putting $20 on my Walmart card so I can buy a 360 ? I'm flat broke, homeless, and probably smell bad - but if I could somehow find a way to get started I'm sure to make a sucess of an on-line multimedia news/magazine network - and promtly pay you back. I could even offer you some advertising. Uhmmm,... if you could do $150 I could get one of my computers out of the pawn shop. That would be great. thnx.
ADDENDUM: Oops.
Looks like the Empirical Study On the Effectiveness of Aluminium Foil Helmets pclissold pointed us to concludes that the helmets *amplify* signals as part of a massive conspiracy promulgated by the US Government. I've been obviated. To quote the late, great Roseanna Roseannadanna : 'never mind'.
-- but I'm still flat broke and my offer to let someone help me remains in effect. |
