Linux Technical Support

Candidate must have the intuition to accurately identify and anticipate a customer's needs. The ideal candidate must care as much about people as you do the technology and possess a patient, easy-going attitude. Must have strong problem solving skills and knowledge of Linux, DNS, web servers, iptables, and computer networking.

Primary Responsibilities

• Interact with Linode customers via support tickets, e-mail, IRC, and phone.
• Troubleshoot customer issues and provide accurate and timely responses.
• Identify and escalate recurring issues to system developers.
• Interact with worldwide datacenter NOCs.
• Handle abuse complaints.

Additional Responsibilities

• Write or test Linode Library articles.
• Quality assurance testing for new Linode features.
• Build and burn-in hardware and network infrastructure.

Network Engineer

Candidate will collaborate with the team on the engineering, design, configuration, installation, maintenance and upgrade of the Linode network, helping us architect and scale for our future growth. You will become a key and founding member of our networking team, responsible for keeping Linode's network as reliable and secure as possible.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic engineering, design, implementation and maintenance tasks
• Design and build data connectivity solutions to support Linode's growth worldwide.
• Assist with the on-going assessment and upgrade of networks
• Assist with network related customer support tickets
• Coordinate the installation of hardware such as routers, bridges and switches
• Maintain knowledge of existing equipment and vendors
• Collect and analyze data network statistics
• May develop relationships with vendors and investigate sources of equipment and services
• Remain informed of new developments and trends
• Make recommendations to management on desirable additions and developments
• This position participates in an on call rotation.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Basic knowledge of network operations
• Basic knowledge of Cisco hardware and IOS
• Basic knowledge of servers, switches, routers, and various network services
• CCNA required
• 18 months of network engineering experience
• Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills
• Expertise with Linux/UNIX, load balancing, firewalls, and traffic analysis
• Professional problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills (English required, local dialects a plus)
• 6 months experience in a customer service oriented position preferred
• Experience with software network tools such as iptables, Linux IPVS, and HAProxy
• Due to the 24x7 operations, must be able to work a flexible work schedule, perform on-call duties, may include nights, weekends, holidays, etc.

Systems Developer/Admin (Devmin)

Linode is seeking an enthusiastic developer with experience developing web based applications, web services and public APIs, and developing the back-end solutions that automate virtual machine tasks.

This position will be responsible for small to mid-size projects, right from the concept phase and all the way to production deployment and beyond. We strive to maintain a work environment that fosters innovative solutions, rapid development cycles and open communication. We reward intellectual curiosity, out-of-the-box thinking and technical excellence. Because so much of what we do involves automating systems related tasks, we're really after a developer who has experience with or knowledge of Linux administration.

• Ability to multi-task and manage priorities judiciously

We need someone who knows their stuff, who is familiar with new media, social networking, Web 2.0, working with a bunch of geeks, and is eager to develop a new marketing department.

• Assist with trade show planning and logistics
• Work with management to define and execute our marketing strategy
• Initiate, monitor, maintain, and analyze performance of advertising campaigns
• Participate in direct customer communications through social media and social marketing channels (twitter, facebook, etc)
• Perform market research and competitor analysis
