So far so good. However, when I compile programs from scratch (ie. postgres), it complains that certain libs are not found, but they exist in /usr/lib! Any ideas? 03:02 < afra> Same with openssl headers. they exist in /usr/include/openssl but configure scripts refuse to find them 03:13 < caker> afra: sometimes you have to provide special ./configure arguments to tell it where the includes are .. ? 03:14 < afra> caker: true, but usually it should pick it up right? I mean you dont think it's the way the UML may be set up? 03:23 < BB1> morn 03:35 < Lathiat> afra: doubtful 03:46 -!- afra [~afra@h-69-3-223-241.CHCGILGM.covad.net] has quit [Quit: Client exiting] 04:06 -!- radical [~kernet@202.88.184.39] has joined #uml 04:33 -!- POV [lew6vj461c@24.70.74.102] has joined #uml 04:36 < POV> Quick question that I haven't been able to google an answer for, or see in the docs. I have two static IP addresses given to me by my ISP, on a SOHO DSL connection. Each address is on a serperate subnet. Is it possible to have a host on one of the two IP's, and the UML kernel answering on the other? or does tap0 and eth0 on the host have to be on the same subnet? 04:38 < POV> for example if I was given the IP's, 128.128.128.128/255.255.255.0 and 130.130.130.130/255.255.255.0 is there anyway to have the host be 128.128.128.128 and the UML client be 130.130.130.130 without requiring a third IP on one fo the two subnets? 04:38 < BB1> I'd bridge the tap/eth and i cant see any reason for it to not work 04:38 < Lathiat> yeh, bridging is the magic stuff 04:38 < Lathiat> www.cantech.net.au/~tony/uml/ i think i put the commands for bridging in there 04:39 < POV> OH... okay, thanks! I'm not quite sure why I didn't think of that!!! 04:39 < Lathiat> ;) 04:40 < POV> So the hosts eth0 will be 128.128.128.128, and the UML eth0 will be 130.130.130.130, and tap0 should just be set up as 128.128.128.128 and bridged to the hosts eth0? 04:40 < Lathiat> tap0 will eb 0.0.0.0 and bridged 04:41 < Lathiat> your host will have a br0 with the ip 130.130.130.130 04:41 < Lathiat> ieth0 will eb 0.0.0.0 too 04:41 < Lathiat> POV: what distro are your unning 04:41 < POV> Heh, I've tried every other combo I could think of... I figured I would have hit something just by sheer chance already :) 04:41 < POV> Lathiat: Debian/unstable 04:41 < Lathiat> ahh 04:41 < Lathiat> you got it easy 04:41 < POV> :) 04:41 < Lathiat> http://www.cantech.net.au/~tony/uml/img21.html 04:42 < Lathiat> then u 04:42 < Lathiat> tunctl -u uid 04:42 < Lathiat> brctl addif br0 tap0 04:43 < POV> Cool!!!
