Upgrade Linode

A lot of people ask about upgrading their linode. If you don't want an entirely new plan, you can add resources via the Extras tab in Linode Manager.

First, check the availability page to see if a Linode is available in the size that you want. If it isn't, you won't get to upgrade immediately. (Read the following paragraph for details) If a linode isn't available in your desired plan right now, go ahead and fill out the support ticket and you'll be put in the queue for the next available.
Will your IP change? Only if you want it to and explicitly say so in your support ticket request. The company assigns linodes to machines based on the plan. When you change plans, you will change machines. The company operates out of a couple of different data centers. Standard Operating Procedure is to NOT change datacenters for your linode when you upgrade.
