What Do You Use Linode For?

I have friends on Linode, and had considered getting one for a while, but this is what tipped the scales.

I imagine that tutorial is responsible for 50 (or maybe 2) new Linodes.

I just found Linode and am thrilled with it. I had all my sites moved over in a day with no problems. Installed webmin first, and used that for ease in setting up stuff like dns and sendmail and user accounts etc... A few tweaks - like setting up php to run as a cgi - and I was good to go. Hosts php driven mysql backend sites like postnuke and openrealty with ease. My OS is CentOS 4.3 now. I originally installed 4.0 using linode.com and did "yum upgrade". After that I was getting wierd errors, but it only took a few minutes to figure out that I needed to use the linode.com site to switch the kernel for my vbox to the 2.6.16.1-linode18-bb1 build and now its fast - its stable - and its perfect for my needs. Thanks to the Linode.com team!

Personal homepage, as well as (more importantly) the site for the Ultima Linux distribution, among other things. Right now my own Linode's running Apache + PHP, MySQL, Sendmail, and a few other things, all on top of a custom-installed Ultima Linux system, and all in all, it's got around ten or fifteen different sites all running without a problem. All this on a single Linode 128 configuration.

Our Linode is hosting consumer-oriented web applications such as a free grocery shopping list. Finding Linode for this has been a real boon. Love the freedom to run what ever and the performance is fantastic.
