Cloud Sales Development Representative

As a Cloud Sales Development Representative (SDR) at Linode, you will be responsible for generating leads for prospective customers and performing basic qualification. To achieve this objective, you will mine data from sources like Discoverorg, Hubspot, and Linkedin . The SDR will specifically target selected micro-markets and perform cold outreach via email, social media and phone (outbound), as well as field inquiries from Linodes website and other channels (inbound). The SDR’S goal is to set appointments with high-quality prospects for our CE’s.

This is a full-time position, reporting to Linode's Director of Sales, based out of our office in our newly remodeled office in Old City, Philadelphia.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years sales experience preferably in the high-tech space.

Cloud Server Build Engineer

Philadelphia, PA

We are currently seeking a Cloud Server Build Engineer to drive the continual improvement of Linode’s hardware infrastructure. As Linode’s resident mad scientist of servers, you will focus on researching powerful new hardware to make our servers faster and more efficient. This position comes along with the territory of your own testing lab and the ability to play with the latest and greatest: multi-socket systems from Intel Purley and AMD Epyc, the latest network gear from Juniper and Cisco 40G & 100G, etc. We need an outside the box thinker who can not only ensure our hardware is the fastest on the market today, but will also maintain the roadmap for future Linode hardware.

This position will report to Linode’s Data Center Operations Manager. Position is 40 hours per week and may require travel among our Philadelphia, PA and Galloway, NJ offices. Occasional travel to our 8 worldwide datacenters and our hardware manufacturers and vendors will also be required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create, perform, and automate benchmarking, compatibility, and burn-in test procedures
  • Compile and interpret test results
  • Make configuration recommendations for new hardware builds
  • Benchmarking and tweaking cutting edge hardware
  • Maintain and own relationships with big name hardware vendors to test products before they are released to the general public
  • Keep abreast of future component releases and trends to continue to develop the Linode hardware roadmap
  • Maintain internal documentation
  • Attend trade shows regularly
  • Architect full rack solutions and decoupled compute and storage solutions

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in a similar role
  • BA/BS in computer science or equivalent field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience with bash scripting or another scripting language

Customer Support Manager

Linode is seeking passionate individuals to join its ever-growing Customer Support team at all experience levels. Linode Support is the front-line of Linode’s cloud hosting platform, and is fully dedicated to providing the best support in our industry. We are currently seeking a Customer Support Manager to advocate for our customers and our people, focusing strongly on the happiness of our customer base and successes and development of the members of the Customer Support team. Ideally, you will have a proven track record of leadership skills and developing employees, resulting in the improvement of individual members of the Customer Support team, as well as the team as a whole. You should be an excellent communicator with strong documentation abilities as well as attention to detail. Customer Support Managers are expected to contribute to Support through facilitation rather than direct intervention with the functional purpose of creating an environment in which our Support team can succeed through policy calibration, personnel development, and the research of new helpful tools and methods.

This role is a regular 40 hour per week position located in our Philadelphia, PA office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.

Data Center Operations Specialist

Philadelphia, PA

Linode’s data center operations team is responsible for the planning, installation, repairs and upgrades, configuration, and maintenance of Linode’s hardware. Additional responsibilities include maintaining correspondence with data center technicians, keeping up with equipment availability levels based on demand, shipping and receiving, deploying new equipment, and retiring depreciated equipment as necessary. The data center operations team also plays a crucial role in hardware infrastructure management such as server rack planning, equipment tracking and documentation, software and firmware upgrades, forecasting, etc.

Linode is now seeking an enthusiastic Data Center Operations Specialist. This person will have a genuine passion for all things hardware and will be well versed in a server environment. The ideal candidate will have NOC experience and will have both hands-on and remote experience maintaining a server environment. This individual will have working knowledge of Linux and computer networking experience.

 Primary Job Functions

  • Continuously monitor and maintain nine worldwide data centers, networks, and servers
  • Deploy and repair servers, storage systems, routers and switches, and other hardware
  • Interact with data center NOCs via telephone, email, web portal, etc.
  • Infrastructure planning in a globally-reaching data center environment
  • Respond to demand by shipping and receiving of servers, networking equipment, remote power consoles, etc. to maintain availability and reliability of Linode’s network
  • Ensure peak performance by installing and maintaining firmware and software

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in computer science or equivalent field preferred
  • Experience in a NOC environment with hands-on hardware experience a plus
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and networking equipment

General Counsel (Privacy, data, and cyber-risk)

Linode is seeking a General Counsel to drive the legal aspects of the company to effectively ensure legal conformity and minimize probability of exposure to risk. The General council will safeguard Linode’s reputation by guaranteeing that the company strictly follows legal guidelines and give legal advice to any necessary internal teams or individuals about all relevant issues. This person is responsible for leading corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives and provides Linode’s leadership with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation, manages the legal function, and obtains and oversees the work of outside counsel. The general counsel is directly involved in complex business transactions in negotiating critical contracts.

You will report directly to Linode’s Chief Operations Officer and will regularly collaborate with Linode’s executive and leadership teams. You are a strategic thinker with a background in law, with a proven track record in the technology or internet ecosystem.The position will report to Linode’s Philadelphia office and is a full-time, 40 hour per week role, however extended hours may be required as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Experience with IP process, data protection, and privacy practices as well as complex technology-related litigation cases.
  • Quantifiable track record of outstanding Corporate leadership within a fast paced, high growth, entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent knowledge of corporate law and procedures, both domestic and internationally
  • Successful handling of online law and practice in the e-commerce area
  • Familiarity with website agreements including Terms of use (“TOU”), Terms of Service (“TOS”), Privacy Policy, Copyright Policy, Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”), etc

In this position you will undergo a structured training process which will prepare you to take on the role of a Customer Support Specialist. If you have a proven history of strong customer service, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a basic understanding of computer troubleshooting, this role will suit you. As a part of the Customer Support team you will regularly collaborate with your support colleagues as well as members of the development, operations, and networking teams. An ideal candidate is someone who can easily switch between independent and collaborative work throughout the day. This position is ideally suited for individuals who have a passion for helping customers but lack the technical experience required for our Customer Support Specialist job, recent college graduates, or career changes trying to break into the tech industry.

This role is a regular 40 hour per week position located in our Philadelphia, PA office. Linode provides 24/7 / 365 support to our customers, which means candidates should be open to non-traditional shifts.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Interact with Linode customers via support tickets and phone
  • Troubleshoot customer issues and provide accurate and timely responses

Linux Systems Engineer

Managing a cloud hosting service for 400K customers requires creative solutioning and cutting edge technological innovation.  As we continue to grow rapidly, we’re looking for passionate, highly skilled Systems Engineers to drive automation & operational excellence, and support product development for our customer fleet.  This will require out of the box thinking combined with deep domain expertise on Linux, DevOps, and System Administration to be successful.

You will be a natural problem solver. Someone who lives to put out fires before they start and continuously monitors all things Linode to make sure there is never a hiccup in the service that our customers come to love and expect. 

Linode Systems Engineers are responsible for working on a number of critical internal and customer facing initiatives.  This includes everything from the creation of distributed file systems like Ceph, Gluster, and Cinder to Salting all the infrastructure and ELKing all the logs.

Primary Responsibilities

Requirements

Senior Cloud Client Executive

The Senior Cloud Client Executive position at Linode is a “hybrid sales” position that is responsible for managing an existing book of top tier Linode customers as well as prospecting for and closing sales to new logos. Technical Writer (Linux, Open Source Software)

Philadelphia, PA

We are currently looking for a talented technical writer to join our marketing team. The technical writer will write and edit Linux software documentation while also acting as a peer editor for other writers on the team, as well as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) writing on Linode’s behalf through our bounty program. The technical writer will also participate in sourcing new creative content from community experts.

Experience writing and editing Linux software documentation is required. This position requires the ability to learn new subjects quickly and write accurate and detailed documentation about them. A candidate should have experience and a working knowledge of Linux, web servers, databases, CMS platforms, and other related topics.

This is a full-time position based out of our brand new headquarters in Philadelphia, PA.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Write new documentation and update current documentation in the Linode library.
  • Identify topic gaps in the library and propose guides to  fill those gaps.
  • Work with other writers and subject matter experts in a collaborative editing environment
  • Edit and review content created by others for technical accuracy and clarity.
  • Contribute to plans for creating new guides and edit existing documentation.
  • Assist the Marketing Department in creating other collateral pieces like brochures, case studies, and white papers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of Linux..
  • Working understanding of git and Github.
  • Basic understanding of programming concepts.
  • Ability to read code in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Javascript, Java, Go.
  • Basic understanding of markdown.
  • 2+ years experience working as a technical writer.
  • Outstanding editing and proofreading skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Ability to write scripts in the programming language of your choice.
  • Presence in the open source world. Contributions to open source projects as well as a portfolio of writing or code is a major plus.

UX Designer

Philadelphia, PA

Linode is seeking a skilled UX Designer with a strong interest and capability in the design and development of highly engaging user experiences.  You will have an eye for clean design, possess superior UX skills, and be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, and transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces.

As Linode's first ever dedicated UI/UX hire, this role will require both a high level of independent work & a strong need for team collaboration. This is a regular 40 hour per week position located in Old City, Philadelphia.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with development teams to define and implement solutions for product direction, visuals, and experience
  • Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to development
  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and ease of use to complex design roadblocks
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, interaction prototypes, and site maps to communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executives alike
  • Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback
  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years proven experience working in a similar capacity
  • Proven UX experience and a passion for what you do
  • Demonstrate UI design skills with a strong portfolio
  • Solid experience in creating storyboards, user flows, process flows, interaction prototypes, and site maps
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle or other visual design and wireframing tools
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript for rapid prototyping
  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction

  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
