apache & mysql issues after upgrades

Hello, I have a Linode running Ubuntu that hosts my personal WordPress / Testing site - which is mostly just a sandbox of sorts to play around in.

The other day I ran the free RAM upgrade, and then updated to the latest Ubuntu distro (16.04 LTS), and now Apache and MySQL won't start.

Can anyone shed some light on what I can do to troubleshoot? It seems as though the upgrade changed or removed files….Many thanks for any help!

Here are the errors from journalctl:

I don't know about MySQL, but it's a known fact that Apache configuration syntax changed from version 2.2 to version 2.4. This means you can't just use the same configuration as before. Fortunately the required changes are small.

See

https://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/upgrading.html

for details.
