How do I use SSH on my Windows computer?

Linode Staff

I'm having trouble using PuTTY. Are there other options?

PuTTY is a bit more complicated than a standard SSH client. We have a Linode Community post here that details troubleshooting tips for PuTTY issues. If you're using Windows 10, there is an SSH client included with your operating system. You also may want to consider alternative methods of SSH for Windows, including OpenSSH (which is now included on some versions of Windows) and Cygwin. There are also some browser extensions such as Secure Shell for Google Chrome, though this is a more limited option and will not permit SSH tunneling, among other functions.

Hello,

Copy your Public IP address into the putty console and click open w/ ssh as your option.

Then, type in your credentials like usual.
