How do I change my servers public ip address

Our primary server failed requiring us to deploy a backup snapshot to a new linode instance. How do we change the public ip address on the new instance to the ip address currently in use by the failed server?

You can change the IP address of your new Linode to the IP of the old one by using the IP Transfer feature in the Cloud Manager.

After that, you can reboot your new Linode (as long as Network Helper is enabled), and the IP address will be automatically configured to the new instance.

Otherwise you'll need to statically configure the interface to use the new IP.
