Dovecot/Postfix/MySQL on Ubuntu 12.04

I am trying to set up a mailserver with Postfix/Dovecot/MySQL on Ubuntu 12.04 I followed the instructions at … 0-maverick"> (Ubuntu 10.10 was the latest version I could get instructions for). The services are running but when I try to send an email with mailx nothing gets sent. When I send to an address with automatic forwarding the forwarded message is being received on gmail but the original message is not being delivered. The mail.log file has this:
> … dovecot: pop3-login: Error: Timeout waiting for handshake from auth server. my pid=22644, input bytes=0

… dovecot: auth: Fatal: Unknown database driver 'mysql'

… dovecot: master: Error: service(auth): command startup failed, throttling

Any idea why it would not be able to recognize the mysql driver? (mysql is working)

Also, the dovecot-deliver.log file has an error
> lda: Fatal: Plugin 'sieve' not found from directory /usr/lib/dovecot/modules

I don't know if these are related or independent.

Looks like MySQL support has been split out into a separate package. Try apt-get install dovecot-mysql.

Thanks. That seems to have fixed the lack of recognition for the mysql driver. Do you have any insights on the sieve plugin. I haven't been able to find anything helpful on that yet.

I seem to have fixed my problem by changing the config file to not look for sieve. We'll see if I see any negative side effects but things appear to be working for now.

Searching the Ubuntu package database for "dovecot" seems to turn up some that look relevant to sieve filters.
