Dovecot mail retention policy management

Hi Fellow Linoders!

First: Thanks to Linode and the community for the excellent Postfix/Dovecot/MySQL guides. These are gold, and I've been running email for a handful of virtual domains with ZERO PROBLEMS for two years. Yeah!

Ok, so I've got a bit of mail piled up… I'd like to implement per-(virtual-)user quotas with multiple thresholds based on the size of /usr/vmail/%d/%n/Maildir on disk:

1. size exceeds T1 : send a warning message

2. size exceeds T2>T1 : stop accepting new mail from postfix

I'd also be interested in BOFH methods like deleting all mail older than 90 days (90 seconds?) as long as the total exceeds T1.

Thanks!

kdog

P.S. I could hack my own. And I realize this may not be the best (by some metrics) place for general Dovecot help, but I'd like to get perspective from birds of a feather in case there are some things peculiar to the setup according to the excellent guides here at Linode.
