How to install MongoDB on Debian

Linode Staff

I am trying to install MongoDB on a Linode, but when I try to connect to the database, I get an error that says "wire version is 0"

It looks like there's not a Debian-specific guide in the Linode library, but this guide here for Ubuntu 16.04 should come close as it is Debian based.

wire version is 0
This doesn't seem to be a super-common issue, but Google seems to indicate that you may be trying to install a deprecated version of Mongo as in this article here

Could you make sure you're installing up-to-date packages?
