Setting up Spamassassin on my CentOS Linode

hello,

i'm having one hell of a time setting up spamassassin to run on my CentOS linode, running the CentOS 6.0 profile. i currently have a running email server environment using:

Postfix

Dovecot

ClamAV virus scanning

my email server uses virtual mailboxes, the info for which is stored in a MySQL dbase.

All currently seems to work fine but I cannot get spamassassin to scan my email as well. i've read countless online guides and i have yet to figure it out. maybe it's me, as i'm not as highly proficient in Linux as I should be probably. any help would be greatly appreciated.
