Server side virus checking.

I've been playing with my new Linode64 plan for a few days now and I am very impressed. I want to use it as a DNS server and a mail server and I have been looking at server side virus checking. I have had experience of mailscanner and clamav which I have installed on a dedicated server running WHM and CPanel. The trouble is this package can eat your memory and I doubt 64Mb would handle both the DNS and the mailscanner. Before I am forced to think about buying more memory, has anyone already managed what I am attempting with a 64Mb box using mailscanner or an alternative?

Many thanks in advance for your assistance.
