In der Tat können wir auf eine sehr lange Geschichte zurückblicken, in der wir den Wert unserer Pläne durch zusätzliche Ressourcen und Preissenkungen erhöht haben.
Wir freuen uns, Ihnen mitteilen zu können, dass wir erneut die Preise senken, diesmal für den Datentransfer. Ab dem 1. September 2011 werden allen Kunden keine Gebühren mehr für eingehende Datenübertragungen berechnet. Außerdem senken wir die Gebühren für Übertragungen, so dass sie mit den Pre-Pay-Tarifen identisch sind.
Alle eingehende Bandbreite in Ihren Linode-Cloudserver oder NodeBalancer ist 100% kostenlos, in allen unseren Einrichtungen. Das bedeutet, dass Sie eine unbegrenzte Menge an Daten auf Ihre Linode hochladen können, ohne für den eingehenden Datentransfer bezahlen zu müssen. Wenn Sie zum Beispiel für zusätzliche Übertragungen (über das hinaus, was mit Ihren Linode-Instanzen im Paket enthalten ist) bezahlt haben und 40 % Ihres gesamten Transfers eingehend war, werden Sie jetzt 40 % weniger an Transferkosten bezahlen als vorher.
Wir beseitigen auch die Strafe, die man für das Überschreiten der Übertragungsquote zahlen würde. Die alte "Überschreitungsgebühr" betrug $0,15/GB und ist nun die gleiche wie die Pre-Pay Rate: $0,10/GB. Eine Sache weniger, über die Sie sich Gedanken machen müssen, da die Preise jetzt gleich sind.

Fantastic, that is quite interesting in order to use several Linodes and have one (or several) of them as backup servers, because all inbound traffic would be free.
Could you consider the traffic between linodes of the same user as free also? That would make outbound/inbound traffic from Linode to Linode free as well, and would be perfect for that task…

@javipas As long as we’re talking about inside a single datacenter, anything on your private v4 IP, or that goes to another node in the DC using a v6 IP, is already free.
It’s reasons like this why I stick with Linode over others. They do these wonderful things that customers appreciate.

Woot! This is a welcome change. Not that I had much to worry about bandwidth wise (my VPS is used for experimentation and other linux work) but making it so I don’t get penalized when I decide to update the packages on it makes it better. Thanks!
If incoming bandwidth is now effectively “unlimited” is there any potential for resource hogs to create contention issues?
Is incoming bandwidth subject to the default throttle of 50Gbit per account?
I’m just curious how Linode would ensure our incoming bandwidth can’t be tied up by other accounts. I don’t know a lot of technical details about how all this works though.
