Why can't I migrate my IP from Tokyo 1 to Tokyo 2?

I migrated my Linode from Tokyo 1 to Tokyo 2, but the new IP address is blocked by the GFW. Why can't I just keep the old IP address?

The reason you're not able to keep the same IP is because IPv4 addresses are specific to data centers. Once you have left the Tokyo data center, that IP is left behind.

To keep the same IP, you can always create a new Linode in the same data center and use the IP swap functionality to swap IPs. This guide will help:
