Is phpMyAdmin installed?

How can I know if phpMyAdmin is already installed on my Linode (Ubuntu) server? Are there specific directories I can look for?

I found a phpMyAdmin directory in /etc Does this mean it is already installed?

Beyond basic services (i.e. networking), a new Linode comes with nothing. Unless you installed it, it’s not there.

Understood, but I'm not the one who set up the server and installed the packages. I just don't want to reinstall something if it is already there. Any way I can check?

Assuming you are using Ubuntu, you can do this:

sudo apt-get update

and then

sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin

If phpmyadmin is installed, apt-get will tell you that.

You can also look here for info about the installation status of packages (note: Debian & Ubuntu only):
