content negotiation on linode

I'd like to have urls: …/filename and …/filename.anything
both resolve to …/filename.php
when, at least, there are no names "filename" with other 'extensions' in that directory, only filename.php .

Is that possible?

Edit: I forget that I have my own apache server to configure here! So I'm looking into how to do this.
