Mail server not picking up the hostname

Hi,

I have been trying to set up iRedMail, and it doesn't pick up the hostname. It shows the FQDN as the hostname.

I set up hostname as mail.example.com and iRedmail shows only example.com. In the sources file, it shows hostname as it should be but not on iRedmail.

I have tried AWS, DIGITALOCEAN, GCP everywhere it works fine, only in Linode I am facing this. Any help is appreciated.

Hi @TechX,

I’m not really sure what you mean by the “sources” file, however this iRedMail documentation page suggests several locations that need to be checked/changed.

Although those files suggest it will use the system’s hostname by default.

So the question is what does your Linode believe it’s hostname to be? If you run “hostname” what do you get?
