Has anyone else experienced transient network configuration issues with the Slackware image?

I suppose my problem is already "solved," but I felt the need to make a post for the sake of the community/Linode's knowledge.

I installed Slackware 14.2 today, and the very first thing I tried was to update via slackpkg, which hung for a while and then gave me an error about the mirror used. I have no connectivity. Couldn't even ping Google. I could ping Linode, but that was it. This persisted for over 4 hours.

Then I followed the troubleshooting guide, with mtr confirming that packets were lost right before my linode. Following the torubleshooter, I booted into recovery, which not only solved the apparent packet loss from home, but in recovery I could ping. Ostensibly this confirmed that network config was at issue.

So I rebooted, and went to copy down the network config files, in the hopes of seeing what might change if I rebuilt without Network Helper. But once I got in, I tested and could ping! I'm in the process of upgrading my packages as I write this.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Are there any precautions I should take after this apparent resolution? Thanks.
