What's the easiest way to upgrade my PHP?

According to Wordpress, my site is running an insecure version of PHP (7.2.24-0ubuntu0.18.04.3), which should be updated.

What's the easiest way to upgrade this through Linode? I've also considered getting the Cpanel app, which seems to have a pretty easy process.

PS I have limited coding experience but this is quite urgent.

I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you.

This is the pot calling the kettle black… but I digress…

For Ubuntu 18.04, PHP 7.2 is the only supported version. However, as of April 2023, Ubuntu 18.04 will no longer be supported.

You should consider upgrading your OS to Ubuntu 22.04 (the newest long-term-support version). With Ubuntu 22.04, you get PHP 8.0.

If you don't want to do that, the only way to upgrade your PHP is with a PPA:

None of this has anything to do with Linode. This is your problem to solve. CPanel costs $$$.
