Creating an Ubuntu 22 desktop VM

Hi all,
When I want to create a VM in my Linode account, I see Ubuntu 22.04, but it seems that it is a server version. I know I can later install gdm3, but I would like to test my issue with a fresh Ubuntu 22.04 desktop version. Any idea about that?

You can download an installer for 22.04 desktop directly from Ubuntu. You'll have to create a partition on your Linode to unpack the installer and a partition on which to install. To install, boot from the installer partition, run the installer to install on the other partition. Once finished, you boot from the partition where you installed.

Frankly, I don't see why you want to do this. It's a lot of tedious busywork for almost zero benefit. 22.04 server and 22.04 desktop are identical except for all the desktop stuff.

You won't ever use the desktop because the network latency between the Linode data center and your display location will prevent the display server from processing with any kind of decent performance. I can guarantee it will be painful to use…

They're called virtual private servers for a reason…
