darkice error POSIX can't open connector

Hey peeps

When I run darkice, it dies thusly

root@ubuntu:/# darkice -v 10 -c darkfile.cfg
DarkIce 0.18.1 live audio streamer, http://darkice.tyrell.hu/
Copyright (c) 2000-2007, Tyrell Hungary, http://tyrell.hu/

Using config file: darkfile.cfg
13-May-2008 18:59:16 Using OSS DSP input device: /dev/darkdsp
13-May-2008 18:59:16 encoding
13-May-2008 18:59:16 scheduler high priority 99
13-May-2008 18:59:16 Using POSIX real-time scheduling, priority 98
DarkIce: DarkIce.cpp:1134: can't open connector [0]

Is this a UML vs. Xen issue? Or does this indicate just how little I understand about audio devices (at all) let alone in a linode context.

What do I need to do so that audio applications on my linode can stream out the web instead of the sound card?

Thanks.
