If you're willing to put forward a little effort you can get exactly what you need from your linode at half the price. I was using GeekStorage due to them having Ruby on Rails support, however on my linode I was able to install ruby/ror myself!
If you want a side by side comparison of shared hosting vs linode web server see our site here: http://www.groupnology.com which is still hosted at GeekStorage, then look at a copy of our site which I moved over last night to linode here: http://72.14.187.113/
Need I say more? :) Hopefully the guys here at Linode keep up the product as they grow, unlike Media Temple's overselling as they grew.
P.S. I was also able to use the guide in this wiki: ~~[http://www.linode.com/wiki/index.php/CentOS#CentOS5.2VirtualHosting" target="blank">](http://www.linode.com/wiki/index.php/Ce … al_Hosting">http://www.linode.com/wiki/index.php/CentOS#CentOS5.2Virtual_Hosting]( to get up and running. I used the Apache option for the web server which is at the bottom of this wiki.
