Utility to change a root password

Utility to change a root password

I’ve added a utility to change root password on a selected disk image. It’s available here, off of the new Utilities sub-tab. It’s pretty straightforward. You select a disk image, enter a new password twice, hit submit and the job is dispatched to the host. Your Linode must be shutdown for this to work.

Before the tinfoil-hat types flame me to a crisp for this, please consider this: if someone is logged into the LPM they can already accomplish this in other ways (deploy another disk image, mount your old root), or do much worse like deleting your disk images. Because of this, it doesn’t open any security concerns that don’t already exist.

Enjoy,
-Chris
