/usr/libexec/rmt /etc/rmt

Hi, i have this program: /usr/libexec/rmt

and I want to remove it from the system.

but i see that:

rmt is a program used by the remote dump and restore programs in manipulating a magnetic tape drive through an interprocess ommunication connection. rmt is normally started up with an rexec(3) or rcmd(3) call.

is it safe to delete it, or the linode backup system needs it to backup my linode ?

You don't need it, it's only used to control an actual tape drive. Since you don't have one (and there is no Linode backup system), it's unneeded.

You should probably delete the entire package it's held in using RPM or apt or $pkgmanager
