Is there a way to duplicate my current Linode? I want to keep the same settings and configurations.

There are a couple of ways to go about creating a copy of your Linode:

  • Images
  • Cloning
  • Backups

The most straight forward way would be utilizing Linode Images. These are exact copies of your Linode that you can use to deploy new Linodes from. They can be created while the Linode is running and deployed with no downtime to existing Linodes. They are only meant to be Golden Images, a base to build on, so it's not an option for Linodes with a lot of packages and software already installed.

You could leverage the cloning option. We strongly recommend powering down any Linode you clone to prevent data corruption. That means there is downtime, though you can clone Linodes of any size.

And finally, there's our Backup Service, which creates an image of your Linode that can be restored to a new Linode. As this is a paid service, there is an additional cost included, but it allows you to leverage the same things that make the Images option so great. Backups can run without needing any down time. Just make sure you check the limitations of the service to make sure it's the right fit for your needs.
