compiled a Linux kernel succeed, but can't boot(SOLVED!!)

Update3(solved problem):I added initrd into menu.lst, KERNEL WORKED!!!

I was compiled a linux kernel on Linode.

1. I downloaded kernel 2.6.39.3 via kernel.org.

2. I Followed the http://library.linode.com/linode-platfo … led-kernel">http://library.linode.com/linode-platform/custom-instances/pv-grub-custom-compiled-kernel? And I used "make oldconfig"to configuring kernel.

3. Kernel compiled succeed,but Linode VPS not work.So I login to Linode via List.I saw kernel stopped booting Linode VPS,and the last message is:

Write protecting the kernel text: 5744k

Write protecting the kernel read-only data: 1384k

NX-protecting the kernel data: 3472k

What's wrong?Who can help me?
