For those of you trying to save space on your linodes, you may find localepurge of use.

I have only ever used it on debian, but once localepurge is set-up and configured it will remove all un-nessecary locale files.

When it is run the first time it will remove all current locale files and then when something is installed via apt-get it will remove all un-nessecary locale files from the installation.

apt-get install localepurge
