Something changed inittab recently

I noticed this line changed fairly recently in my /etc/inittab file:

-0:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 hvc0

+0:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 ttyS0

Does Ubuntu update inittab automatically? I was under the impression the file only changed when the admin updated it by hand?

Likely moving from Xen -> KVM did that. It's the "Distro Helper" in your Configuration Profile settings.

Kind regards,

OK, I'd forgotten about that setting, thanks.
