Linode DNS Manager

The docs say "DNS Manager can create some basic records to get you started when you create your domain zone".

Are these aut-created basic records enough or do I need to do anything more?

Under A/AAAA am I meant to edit it so it says my actual hostname rather than www?

and why is the suggested input Example: www.example.com when the field is marked Hostname?

I'd say 9 times out of 10 the basic records made are what you need. It includes the records in order to point your domain name to your IP address, along with the www subdomain. A few other basic records are included too, but the one most needed is your root domain forwarding to your IP address, which is included.
