SMTP AUTH and certificates coexisting in sendmail?

I currently have Sendmail set up on my Linode to relay outbound mail when TLS and SMTP AUTH are used. However, I also want to let it relay if an MTA or MUA presents a certificate that has been signed by my own personal CA. I've tried using a CERTISSUER directive in the access database, but it is still insisting on using SMTP AUTH even when the cert is presented. The log indicates that the cert is being verified successfully (I've added my own CA certificate to the system).

Any ideas?

It turned out that I used the wrong syntax for the CERTISSUER directive. Once I fixed that, both certificate and SMTP AUTH access work.
