Very slow sftp transfer rate between Mumbai/Singapore

I've been trying to transfer data from Singapore VPS to MUmbai one but it doing only less than 20kpbs using SFTP.

What could be the problem?

The ocean conditions in the Bay of Bengal? An outage at the switch/router installation in Chennai or Mumbai? The Indian government? Take your pick…

@rag_gupta I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your SFTP download speeds. We've located your ticket and there is a recent response with additional information.

For other people who may experience similar issues, there are two tests that you can run to investigate the root cause of the issue.

MTR Reports

You can use MTR reports to help diagnose any potential network issues caused along the route between your Linodes. The below command will provide you with some really useful output, and should be run going in both directions.

mtr -rwbzc 100 <IP. Addresses>

iPerf Tests

You can check the network throughput between servers by using a tool like iPerf. After you've installed iPerf on both servers, you can begin using it for diagnosis. Make sure to run the below command in both directions.

iperf -c <IP.Address> -d

These two test should be able to help you gather a bit more information about the issue you are experiencing. Feel free to open a Support ticket if you need any assistance interpreting the results your receive. This information will also help us determine if the issue is caused by something on our end.
