process wont die

when I type ps -aux I get a process showing up that says:

root 1200 98.0 0.8 8488 512 ? R Oct05 2740:37 vim menu.css

I type in kill 1200, but I cannot kill the process, any ideas?

Have you tried kill -9 1200?

kill -9 should be used as a LAST resort!
