A very basic POODLE question

Only today was Dovecot POODLE patched for Ubuntu 12.04. See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … ug/1381537">https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dovecot/+bug/1381537

My question is this:

If I only used Mail.app on OS X Mavericks and Yosemite, and Mail on iOS, to receive and send my emails, was POODLE with Postfix and Dovecot really an issue?

Is it a possibility that someone snooped my passwords, emails, etc. during this time? How can I find out? In other words: How can I find out whether or not I used SSL3 somewhere for all these weeks for my email?

Since POODLE was only patched today, after such a long time, I imagine they didn't think it was a high priority issue. Why is this? Maybe because 99% of email clients don't use SSL3 anyway?
