Can I customize CoreDNS under Linode managed kubernetes?

I'd like to migrate from self managed to linode managed kubernetes. One of the needs is to customize CoreDNS by adding consul dns as described in https://kubernetes.io/docs/tasks/administer-cluster/dns-custom-nameservers/

Is this CoreDNS customization allowed by the linode managed kubernetes or any restriction?

Thanks,

While you are able to edit the configuration of CoreDNS within LKE, the changes you make may be reverted at anytime since it is a managed component of the service.

This can be cause by one of the following:

  • LKE releases a new cluster patch version
  • LKE cluster provisioner re-reconciles and notices that the object you edited does not match and updates your object to match the template
